Item Description

Come to the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts for the NSO's Family Concert with a Halloween twist -- A "Sleepy Hollow"-een.

Tickets are for seats in Orchestra K, Seats 10 & 12.

All Hallows' Eve has arrived for Ichabod Crane! Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke leads all the ghoulishly attired orchestra members in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, his riveting reimagining of Washington Irving's classic ghost story about the fabled Headless Horseman, complete with an engaging narrator and spine-tingling sounds. Be sure to don your own costume and come early for trick-or-treating in our special Haunted Hall Musical Instrument "Petting Zoo." Then, take your seats for a frightfully fun adventure through the classics: a lively graveyard jaunt in Saint-Saëns's Danse macabre, a hair-raising hullabaloo on the Rubenstein Family Organ with Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, and a thrilling troll-filled chase through Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King." The program also includes a selection from Andrew Lloyd Webber's mysterious musical masterpiece, The Phantom of the Opera, plus plenty of other Halloween surprises!

NSO Family Concerts are most enjoyed by age 5 and up.

Performance Timing: Approximately 60 minutes, with no intermission

Come early for a Musical Instrument "Petting Zoo." Young concertgoers can get up close and hands-on with the instruments they'll see played on the stage--from violins, trumpets, and oboes to trombones and percussion. A project of the Women's Committee for the NSO.

Stay after the 4 p.m. concert for a Kids' Chat. Young audience members can ask questions and hear engaging stories in an up-close-and-personal talk with the concert artists.
