A Bentwood Rocking chair from approximately the 1950’s, completely refurbished with new cane seating and back. Rocking chairs from Bentwood, mostly beech, were a big item as cafe chairs in the early to mid 1900’s. The largest Manufacturer was Thonet of Austria. They are still being produced in “revival” mode.
Artisan: Hans Francke/Metrini Geopani
I have been building furniture since the 70s and enjoy my volunteer time at Pendle Hill, restoring the campus furniture, building new items and helping people with their projects. Woods have beautiful character and grain, the hands-on experience is very satisfying. Where else can you work on wood from a 300 year old tree?
Dimensions: 30"x19.5"x40"
Weight: 10 lbs.
