Item Description
This framed, original oil on canvas measures 18" x 24" and is by New England artist Kathleen Hebert. It is titled "Steps at Garden in the Woods."
Kathleen "Kathy" Hebert was born in Burlington, Vermont. She attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York as a Fashion Major. Art classes were a requirement and everyone at Pratt was convinced that Ms. Hebert would never get very far in the art world. However, because she couldn’t get any worse, any minor attempt at drawing and painting brought her a great sense of pleasure and accomplishment. She continued her studies with Lisa Mead Steig of Cambridge, MA, took classes at the DeCordova Museum school in Lexington, MA and finally found all the answers she had ever needed about painting in the wisdom of the late Helen Van Wyk of Rockport, MA.
Ms. Hebert’s work consists of Landscapes, Still Life, Portraits and now Abstract painting. As a result of her life long struggle, she now teaches art classes for adults, like herself, who have always dreamed of drawing and painting but have never been encouraged to follow their dream because they believed (or because others believed) they lacked any talent. After teaching art classes for adults since 1994, Hebert wrote "No Talent Required: My Journey from Paint by Numbers to Art Instructor." The book was written to encourage her students or anyone to follow their dream.
