Item Description
A short, spalted plank of beech with wane on both edges, was a leftover. Perhaps it is too bothersome a piece; unworthy of the joiner’s hand. Or, perhaps it is just best on its own. It yields a simple and pleasing shape, to contain our daily bread.
Artisan: Denis O’Regan
Denis has worn many hats. A native of New Orleans, he has worked restoration and reproduction of period antiques, sculptural furniture, and historic architectural preservation. His work is found in museums, plantations, homes and offices in the Lower Mississippi Valley and cities from New York to Los Angeles. For two decades, he has designed and produced award winning musically choreographed fireworks displays internationally. A resident of Arden, Delaware, he is beginning the transition back to his woodworking roots. He has a portable sawmill, and cut the beech, walnut and Kentucky coffee at Pendle Hill. He crafts furniture, bowls, architectural detail, signs, sculptural-whatever …..well, anything, really! Let the material, the body, and the soul join together to create the beautiful and the useful.
