MacKay has been a major supporter of Artbeat throughout the many years subtmitting unique and maginificant pieces often highlighting prominent urban and rural landscapes. This prolific and established arist's work is well know and respected throughout the East Coast and we could not be happier to feature his established career and beautiful work. Thank you!

About Jay MacKay: I paint to celebrate the wonder of the singular moment. I’m drawn to compositions that suddenly materialize when the light is just so and the buildings, cars, trees, shadows and reflections are in fleeting harmony. All these elements speak to me, inspiring me to rise to the occasion of putting it onto canvas.

Artist Background
Since a young child I have always been drawing and painting. As an adolescent I took private oil painting lessons at The Jean Lee Gallery in Stow, MA. I received a BFA in Illustration and Design from the University of Lowell (UMASS). I have also studied at The Worcester Art Museum, Decordova Museum and Sculpture Park and The East Side Art Center. I have participated in a few group shows many years ago but a successful career in the graphic arts consumed the majority of my creative energy.

I have since changed careers and in February of 2009 picked my paint brush up again to paint seriously. In 2010 I received an Honorable Mention at The Open Painting Exhibition at The Providence Art Club. In June of 2012 I had a solo painting exhibit at The Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA. In May of this year I became a resident artist at The Cutler Mills in Warren, RI participating in Art Night Open Studios and group shows in the gallery.
