Item Description

Stoneware Ceramics and glaze. 6"x 14" x 14" A stoneware platter to be used as an object in the home, for food presenation, or for the garden. Made from stoneware and glaze and multi-fired.

Artist Statement: John Fazzino, a Connecticut native, who now calls the Mt. Pleasant section of Providence, RI home, received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1986 and an MFA from Swain School of Design, University of Massachusetts at S. Dartmouth in 1989. John has shown his work extensively during his art career and has received awards and fellowships from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts. Recently John placed second in the annual Earthworks show at South County Art Association. In 2014 John took First Place again at the annual Earthworks show and the Juror bought the piece as well. In 2013 John was honored with an award of Best Sculpture in a members show at the South County Art Association. In Earthworks 2009 John received second place for Fluted Vase. In 1996, John received third place for “Tall Bud Vase” in Earthworks. At Earthworks 2001, John Received First Award, for his piece, “Cepheisd”; a work consisting of 3 separate concave platters colorfully glazed and hung on the wall.

His work is also displayed in New Bedford Art Museum and Artworks, New Bedford, Ma., The Courtyard Gallery, Mystic, Ct., 7 Arrows Garden Center, Attleboro, Ma., Quackin Grass Nursery in Brooklyn Ct. and at The Outside In, in Piermont, NY. Recently, John has shown his work in a two person show at The Outside In in Piermont, NY, at The Spring Bull Gallery in Newport RI, at the Gloria Kennedy Gallery in a show titled, “Art for the Garden”, and Brooklyn Pride, in Brooklyn, NY, and at the Grimshaw Gudewicz Art Gallery in a show titled, “from the Landscape” in Fall River, Ma.

He explains that his larger outdoor work nests itself in the garden, creating a nice counterpoint to the flowers, shrubs, and trees surrounding it, while the smaller pieces may use the flowers and stems from the garden in the home. Larger works can be nicely placed in the home as well.

Just remember Pulsars are extremely fast and if you take your eye off of these platters you may find them in unusual places.
