Item Description
This unique pair of prints are from Dictionary of Natural History and Phenomena authored by the French entomologist Félix Guérin-Méneville (1799-1874). In addition to his entomology work and authoring other natural history texts, Guérin was elected president of the Société entomologique de France for the year 1846.
The prints are noteworthy for a number of reasons. Much of Félix Guérin-Méneville's work features combinations of more than one subject matter. The subjects are usually placed in natural settings (versus many natural history prints of the period that just featured the subject). And the detail is extraordinary!
Prints come in a lovely gold frame. Frame is approximately 13" x 17".
