Irene Allen has always found time to make art, despite the demands of family and work as a software designer. She studied at RISD and with private teachers. Allen has exhibited drawings, serigraphs and paintings throughout New England. In the past 5 years she has received awards at Attleboro Arts Museum, East Greenwich Library, Spring Bull Gallery in Newport, and the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative.
“Windblown” was inspired by the tail of a braid of garlic, with no motion of its own, just a lovely tangle in the neutral colors of dried grass. I interpreted it in vivid primary colors and set it flowing in the wind.
