Item Description

21" x 17" x 1.5"

Watercolor

Judith Bertozzi completed a 4-year program at the SMFA, Boston, holds a BFA from Tufts University and an MAT from Lesley University. Judith has held Adjunct Art Faculty positions at UMASS Dartmouth and Worcester Art Museum and has recently retired after 19 years of teaching in the Dighton/Rehoboth school system. Her work has been accepted into numerous shows throughout New England and CA, including 8 Visions at the AAM and the prestigious National Watercolor Show.

My goal in these images is for the viewer to sense the architectural quality of the landscape and find there a place of interest. I come to my painting with an intention of acting as a visual surveyor. I determine the general tonal metes and bounds of the space and align that with the general structure of the scene.  It is not my intention to produce a photographic type interpretation but rather an abstracted echo of the impression of what the light and color have imposed upon my eye.
