Sean James Harrington holds an MFA-Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art, a BFA from Rhode Island College, and a MAT-C from RIC. He is an award winning artist/teacher who creates sculptural metaphors of the unknown depths of time and space. He is a represented artist at the Hope Gallery and has exhibited with the South Kingstown Land Trust Sculpture Trail, the Art League of RI, the South County Art Association, and the Attleboro Arts Museum.
“Time Particle, Gravity vs. Fusion” depicts the equilibrium between the inward force of gravity and outward pressure of nuclear fusion that keep a star creating a seemingly endless supply of light. This piece was exhibited in “See the Light” at the AAM in 2014 and received a Juror’s Award. My Sculptures are inspired by nature and myth. They are metaphors of the unknown depths of time and space. Their ambiguous biological forms explore the conflicts between spirit and reason. They express the fear and wonder of the unknown while embracing the myths and fantasy that seem to calm our worries and give us a sense of immortality.
