Item Description

The SFA Knife is unique with its purple scales and engraved with "SFA" and "Axe 'Em" on the bolsters. The knife was created by George Harris of Harris Knifeworks in Rowlett, TX and is made of 154 CM stainless steel. This is the steel made famous by Bob Loveless. The blade was shaped from a raw bar of 154 CM and then heat treated and tempered. This knife is heat treated to a hardness of Rockwell 60-61. After heat treating, it was finish ground and the bolsters of 416 stainless stell were fitted and attached to the blade. The scales (handles) of purple G10 were then attached with mosaic pins and a lined lanyard tube was included in the handle. A final polish, finishing of the scales and sharpening completed the knife.

The sheath is hand sewn and fitted to the knife. All work on the knife and sheath, including heat treating, is done in Mr. Harris's shop and is a sole authorship piece. Ken and Mary Ann Taylor commissioned the knife for the SFA Alumni  and specifically requested the scales to be SFA purple.

The knife and sheath come in a zippered canvas pouch.
