Owned and bred by Ahmed Zayat, trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza, American Pharoah became the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes, the “Triple Crown” for three-year-old Thoroughbred racehorses.
