About the Show:
This revival of the raucous musical fairy tale Once Upon A Mattress will star the formidable Jackie Hoffman (On the Town, Xanadu, Hairspray) and the iconic John “Lypsinka” Epperson (Lypsinka’s The Boxed Set, The Passion of the Crawford). During a kingdom-wide search to find a princess fit for the hapless Prince Dauntless, in swims the less-than-regal Princess Winnifred the Woebegone (Hoffman). Unrefined and undeniably charming, Winnifred is like no princess Dauntless has ever seen and his heart is captured. The truly terrible Queen Aggravain (Lypsinka) goes on a mission to come between her son and his soulmate in this retelling of the classic story of “The Princess and the Pea.” Forget everything you know about this Happily Ever After!
About the Star:
John Epperson is an American drag artist, actor, pianist, vocalist and writer who is mainly known for creating his stage character Lypsinka. As Lypsinka he lip-synchs to meticulously edited, show-length soundtracks culled from snippets of outrageous 20th-century female performances in movies and song.
About Kapowski's:
Kapowski's is the love child of Moscow 57 and 2nd Floor on Clinton. Ellen Kaye and the team that brought you Moscow 57 have joined forces with restaurateur Tony Powe to create a new adventure at 168 ½ Delancey Street called Kapowski's, a Moscow 57 production, "a place to eat, drink and talk."
Chef Nikita Ponomarev's menu of small plates will range from the Silk Road to Continental Europe in a speakeasy setting with a cocktail menu of cognac, Champagne, Moscow 57-infused vodkas, and the type of specialty cocktails that 2nd Floor on Clinton has become famous for, created by Ektoras Binikos.
