One Strange Bird is a storefront art center featuring handmade gifts, apparel, and art in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.  The store carries exquisitely crafted, brazenly unique art, accessories, and bath and body products by local and national artists and a wide range of gifts, paper goods, and art supplies. The space features art classes and BYOB art parties in many techniques taught by local artistic talent. Run by an artist, One Strange Bird seeks to foster a dialogue between process and product by featuring an on-site studio where customers can see artists making art, while they shop. The space also hosts art openings by Chicago talent.  It is our hope that One Strange Bird will blur boundaries between Fine Art and Craft, art and life, and process and product by having all reside in a singular space. Pop in and say hello, sign up for a class, or let us help you plan an art party!

One Strange Bird's BYOB art workshops are a great place to learn a new skill, meet new people, and make something you will be proud of.  No experience or skills needed.  Just bring your creative side, some friends, and drinks. Designed to be affordable and flexible, our single day workshops fit with busy schedules.  Whether you are looking for a creative night out or you are a creative type looking for new skills, we are the right fit for you! Choose from a variety of innovative workshops in fine art and indie crafts.  

Be inspired by One Strange Bird's creative atmosphere.  Our art gallery and boutique of goods by local artists is the perfect environment for any budding artist. Browse our unique items, relax in our comfortable environment, and create an authentic work of art.  All materials are included and you will leave with an original work of art.  Join us for a fun, social night of creativity.  

Our four week art classes are designed for a more in depth study of a specific medium.  Based on our popular workshops, these extended versions will give you time to develop ideas and techniques over a four week period.  Create a body of work, expand your skill set, and delve in a little deeper.  

All of our classes are taught by professional and working Chicago artists.  Join us in college-level quality instruction.
