Step By Step Care Group is a full service therapy practice in Chicago with a community of clinicians whose passion is to improve the lives of children and their families. Our highly educated and trained speech, occupational and physical therapists in Chicago are dedicated to crafting specific interactive programs that benefit the development of your child. We know that as a parent, your relationship makes a difference in your child’s life every day. We are committed to providing a holistic approach to therapy that not only addresses your child’s specific needs, but supports the entire family through education along with our network of community resources. Playgroup Options - 

LANGUAGE & LITERACY-

This advancement group is created to help your child build critical skills in language and literacy.  Through our Language & Literacy group, our licensed speech therapist will help your child build vocabulary and use words and phrases in practical, meaningful ways.  This group also supports skills related to Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness, including following directions and recognizing language symbols through engaging, literacy-based activities.  With its small-group design, our Language & Literacy advancement program provides children with attentive support from licensed professionals while also promoting practical and social language skills with peers.

LITTLE NIBBLERS-

Little Nibblers is dedicated to helping children learn how to play, explore, and most importantly, enjoy eating their food! Led by SOS-trained therapists, this group will help you and your child learn to have positive experiences with food and establish healthy mealtime routines, as well as increase your child's food repertoire and overall intake. The group focuses on a systematic desensitization approach and incorporates a hierarchy of developmentally appropriate oral motor and sensory milestones. This allows a child to interact with food in a playful, non-stressful environment and to learn about the different properties of food, such as tastes, textures, colors, flavors, and temperatures. We start small by taking preferred foods and expand them on to improve overall consumption and variety. Parent participation, education, and support are an important part of Little Nibblers. Parents will be encouraged to observe sessions and communicate regularly with the therapists about their child's progress and carryover at home. 

MUSIC & MOTOR-

This class is designed to help your child develop gross motor and language skills through the use of music and body movement. By incorporating educational moments and hands-on learning opportunities provided by therapists for families, we're facilitating continuous growth for each child. Whether we target social skills, strengthening, endurance with activities, handling/positioning or a combination of each, this class assists families in identifying and understanding the techniques and utilizing resources they need to be active in their child's progress.
