Item Description
Just the thing for the winter blues...being transported to a Labor Day picnic, if only on the stage! The winning bidder will receive TWO (2) tickets to the footlighters production of Picnic by William Inge. Directed by Dennis Murphy. Picnic runs January 14 - 30, 2016.
Picnic - "In a small town, all dreams seem big..." It's a balmy Labor Day in the American heartland, and a group of women are preparing for the annual town picnic...but they'll have to lay a lot on the line before they can lay out the checkered cloths. When a handsome young drifter named Hal arrives, his combination of uncouth manners and titillating charm stirs up everything. Sensual, charming, passionate and delightfully funny, PICNIC is a timeless American classic about life, about love, about dreams...and about the line between restraint and desire.
Footlighters, Inc. was established in 1963 by a small group of community theatre volunteers who wanted to bring theatre opportunities to the western side of Cincinnati. For the first 24 years, the group performed in area highschool auditoriums, eventually settling at Westwood Town Hall in the late 1970's, where they continued to produce two shows a year.
In 1986, Footlighters moved to Newport, KY when they took posession of the tornado-damaged Salem United Methodist Church and converted it into the Stained Glass Theatre. Today, Footlighters performs 3 regular season shows a year and a holiday fundraiser show.
Footlighters, Inc., an all-volunteer organization, is governed by a 13-person Board of Directors, and is supported by nearly 200 members; all representing a broad spectrum of the professional and geographic community served by the theatre.
