Item Description
Winner, along with up to two guests, is invited for a studio visit with painter and collagist Harriet Finck in East Orange, NJ. She works in a beautiful old brick factory building on the third floor (walkup). She paints mostly on paper, with some excursions into canvas and mixed media.
Her subject is almost always about nature at the micro and macro levels - "I'm interested in the nature of clusters, and of like shapes that coalesce. I often marry this interest to an ongoing study of Jewish texts: for example, I have spent the last two years making work based on the nature imagery in the Book of Job."
Harriet teaches collage at the Art School at Old Church in Demarest.
Her work has also appeared in Lilith.
