All Access Cleveland: The Rock and Roll Photography of Janet Macoska

The lucky high bidder will receive a paperback copy of All Access Cleveland: The Rock and Roll Photography of Janet Macoska with Peter Chakerian.

The book is the long-awaited compendium of native Clevelander Janet Macoska's 40+ years shooting rock and roll, published by Cleveland Landmarks Press.

If rock and roll has been the soundtrack of your life, photojournalist Janet Macoska has provided the visuals. Since 1974, Janet Macoska has been capturing rock's greatest on film. Among the publications that have used her photos are Rolling Stone, People, US, Vogue, American Photo, Creem, 16 Magazine, The NY Times, and London Times. VH1 and other TV and film productions regularly use Macoska's vast rock archive for their "rockumentaries". Her work is in the permanent collection of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, The National Portrait Gallery in London and in Hard Rock Cafe restaurants, casinos and hotels all around the planet. David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Clash and The Kinks are just some of the artists who have used her work on their cds. She was also the Cleveland Indians photographer.

From Woodstock to the Moon: The Cultural Revolution of Rock Music

This gently used paperback book written by Chas Smith of Cleveland State University and published by Kendal/Hunt provides documents the history of rock and roll and its roots, from African griot-shaman beats to the slavery in the U.S., gospel music and the blues, boogie-woogie to post-WWII era early rock prototype songs, to the early rockers with Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Elvis. Other artists and their influences include the Beatles, David Bowie, James Brown and Sly Stone. The book provides details about Woodstock, and the political and social issues that contributed to all of these forms of music.
