Item Description

This beautiful necklace is inspired by a necklace Elizabeth Taylor owned that included the famous La Peregrina pearl (see the story of the original necklace below).

A smooth and sophisticated pear-shaped, white simulated pearl dangles from a leaf-designed enhancer with pave-set simulated diamonds. It all hangs from a  slender chain with small, round, simulated pearls. From the Elizabeth Taylor Collection.

Chain is approximately 36" long and hangs at about 18" from neck. Pearl is approximately 1" long. Pearl and leaf-designed enhancer totals about 2.5".

A gift from Richard Burton and redesigned by Elizabeth Taylor with Cartier, La Peregrina is indisputably one of the most famous and extraordinary pearls in the world. Its history, though not fully agreed upon by scholars worldwide, spans almost 500 years, beginning with its discovery in the Gulf of Panama and continuing with eleven European kings and queens owning it prior to Ms. Taylor. La Peregrina is a naturally pear-shaped pearl, set in a diamond, ruby, and cultured pearl necklace.
