Children's picture book by Katie Berdan that encourages work instead of getting free stuff from the rulers!

"Trouble in Ippy Tippy Town is a gentle read about an important topic. It introduces youngsters to the importance of hard work, truth, and politics. It may help young children become prepared in what to expect from politicians, but teaches respect for our governing leaders. It is a hard concept to teach a 7-8 year old, yet the story tells the story without harshness or pre-conceived grown-up opinions. The story also teaches what money our earned pays for. This in turn instills some responsibility and accountability for items a child desires, and shows how he can earn his own money for them."

About the Author

This is a fun little fable about a town of hard working turtles, whose lives are changed when "Gimme Getters" win the election in the land of Opportunity. It's a great introduction to the concept of the value of hard work, and the truth that "free" things aren't really free. My 9 year olds enjoyed the cute illustrations (love the breakdancing turtle!), and were easily able to make the connection between the fable and the real-life benefits of hard work and independence.

"The story also teaches a lesson about what our money in taxes pays for."
