Item Description

Winning bidder will receive one week of ArtVentures Class from the Brookline Arts Center for the Summer of 2016.

ArtVentures Description:

Our popular ArtVentures program for children blends fun with learning through a balance of structured projects, creative expression and play. We promote artistic exploration while developing technique and critical-thinking skills. Each theme is explored through a variety of mediums and imaginative projects. Students have three breaks during the day to explore our beautiful park, play on the connecting playground or participate in a game with their peers. Our weekly programs culminate in an art show designed to showcase and celebrate each child’s artistic accomplishments.

Classes meet from 9:00am-4:00pm with a one hour lunch break and two snack breaks. Early drop-off is available at 8:00am and late pick-up is available until 5:30pm.  Summer session will run from June 20-September 2. Programs include:

Rainforest

Learn about the Amazon and all of the wonderful wildlife that thrives there!

Treasure Quest

What is a treasure? Children will define what treasures are to them, use found objects and re-assemble them to create meaningful works of art. We will also create our own treasure maps!

Microscopic and Miniatures

Children will explore and create precious, miniature art, as well as magnify the microscopic world around us in abstract paintings, terrarium sculpture design and more.

The Milky Way and Beyond

Children will venture into outer space through stellar themed paintings, and build their own lunar colonies.

Build It!

We will take on the role of artist-engineer as we envision and design sculptural, architectural artworks.

Prehistoric Life

Dinosaurs and fossils will inspire our projects this week. Children will create cave paintings, sculptures and fossil clay creations.

Art of Ancient Egypt

Children will create artwork inspired by Hieroglyphs, Great Pyramids, Pharaohs and Sphinxes.

Stories in Motion

We will animate and explore ways to tell stories as we create scripts, characters, costumes, comics and flipbooks.

Deep Sea Explorations

Learn about all of the Earth's oceans and the creatures that thrive there! Our projects will explore the textures and colors of the sea as well as tides, plant life and mythological sea monsters!

Great Heights

Skyscrapers, hot air balloons, planes, Mount Everest and more subjects of great heights will be explored in aerial inspired art projects. We will also learn about balloon mapping!

Eco Art

We will create temporary art, experiment with natural materials and learn about artists who create environment inspired artworks.
