Item Description
From the Tundra to Tinseltown the Ray Mala Story
From the Jacket: "The handsome actor was not only the first Alaskan to become a Hollywood movie star but also the first non-white actor to play in a leading role. This is the story of Ray Wise Mala, the talented and enterprising son of an itinerant Russian trader and an Eskimo mother.... a generous, sophisticated, self-made man from humble origins who straddled the gap between two cultures, never forgetting the debt he owed his own."
Donor Lael Morgan was an RDLN Advisor for RDLN Leader Marilyn Savage from Fort Yukon, Alaska. Marilyn led Lael to a story by her relative, which became a book called Two Old Women, a best seller for Lael's publishing company Epicenter Press. Lael is a writer, photographer and teacher. She has been generous to RDLN and in a previous auction she bid successfully on a stay at RDLN Leader Nancy Gaynor's ranch -- also available through this auction.
