The Good Beer Store story: About two years ago the friends found themselves frequenting a local restaurant and pub that boasts over 1000 bottles of beer many of which are impossible to find locally. On their quest to try them all they began throwing the idea around of opening their own craft beer store here in Fryeburg, so they could take home their favorites. This remained a dream in both the couples lives until December of 2010.
As any Mainer knows, driving in snowy weather becomes second nature but never becomes enjoyable. So it was on the couples third trip to Portland, a 2 hour round trip trek from Fryeburg to find good beer, that they knew that their dream was destined to become a reality. The doors to the Good Beer and Wine Store officially opened to the public on April 2nd.
The vision has continued, developed, and changed over the past couple of years. The Prouty’s made the tough decision to move on from the business with the goals of constructing their dream home and retiring. They can retire in comfort and peace now that they know they only have to drive a couple of miles to get all of the good beer they want!
It was at this point that Kevin’s brother Scott Antonucci, a business man and beer lover himself, along with his wife Betsy, made the decision to join in the dream of the Good Beer and Wine Store. While you may not see their faces when you walk in the store, as they live in Manchester New Hampshire, they are instrumental in continued growth and development of the store.
It has been quite a journey so far and there are many exciting plans for the future of the store. The support of our patrons is cherished and serves a constant reminder of the “Good Friends, Good Wine, Good Times” motto. So come in, become good friends and grab some good beer! Cheers!
