Item Description

Message to the winning bidder from AirTalk host, Larry Mantle:

Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) is one of my favorite detective films. It’s set in post-World War II Los Angeles’ African-American community. Walter Mosley’s excellent novel evoked the artistic and economic energy of Central Avenue. Director and screenwriter Carl Franklin fully translates that sense of place and time.

Denzel Washington stars as private detective “Easy” Rawlins, but you’ll most remember Don Cheadle’s breakout performance as the menacing “Mouse.” The movie earns its “R” rating for violence, language, and sexuality.

Join me in watching a very entertaining movie, with a wonderful sense of post-war LA. I’ll lead a conversation about the film after the screening. We’ll bring the candy, popcorn, pizza, and soft drinks.
