Item Description
Antique/vintage framed "The Gleaners" print by Jean-Francios Millet. The original is an oil painting completed in 1857 that depicts three peasant women gleaning a field of stray grains of wheat after the harvest. The painting is famous for featuring, in a sympathetic way, what were then the lowest ranks of rural society; this was received poorly by the French upper classes. Frame is 28"x24", newspaper on the back is dated Friday, December 22, 1933.
