John Urschel was selected by the Ravens in the fifth round (175th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. In his first professional season, he
- Saw action in 11 games (three starts) as a rookie in 2014 for an offense that established franchise single-season records in yards (5,838) and points scored (409);
- Was part of an o-line that only allowed 19 sacks, second fewest in the NFL (2014); and
- Helped QB Joe Flacco establish career highs in passing yards (3,986) and TD passes (27), completing 62.1% of his passes (344 of 5554) for a 91.0 QB rating (2014).
Some of his Penn State exploits include his
- Appearance in 40 games and started every contest (24) at RG as a junior (2012) and senior (2013);
- 21 TD-resulting blocks and 181 key blocks/knockdowns in his two full seasons as a starter;
- Third-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten accolades for the second-consecutive season after starting all 12 games at RG as a senior in 2013, becoming just the third Penn State offensive lineman to earn multiple first-team All-Big Ten honors (Jeff Hartings, 1993-95; Stefen Wisniewski, 2009-10).
