There are winemaker stars and there are winemaker superstars.

These winemakers rise above all that – and are among the Wonder-Women of Winemakers.

Dawnine Dyer arrived in Napa Valley in 1974 to work harvest, and never left. She spent the next 25 vintages at Domaine Chandon, opening the winery in 1978 and rising through the ranks to become the Vice President, Winemaking. She left her “Bubble Queen” tiara behind in 1999 to work on her own label, from vineyards that she and husband Bill planted on Diamond Mountain in 1993. In 2005, Dawnine partnered with Barry and Tracy Schuler to make an estate bottled Cabernet Sauvignon from the Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville.

Mia Klein may be best known for her award winning work with Dalla Valle, though she has worked with many of the most highly respected wineries in Napa Valley, including Araujo Estate, Spottswoode, and Viader. She established her own label, Selene, in 1991 and became the first -- and only -- winemaker for the tiny handcrafted Bressler Vineyards wines in 1999. In 2003, Mia was named Food & Wine Magazine’s Winemaker of the Year.

Françoise Peschon is best known for the fabulous Araujo Estate wines, several of which were rated a whopping 99 points by noted critic Robert Parker. Since 2008, this winemaker has continued to receive accolades for both the Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and her eponymous Drinkward Peschon which she makes with chef and friend, Lisa Drinkward.

Dawnine, Mia and Françoise remain among the most admired winemakers in the world. Enjoy the fruits of their labors by adding these spectacular magnums to your cellar:
