Kurt is from McMurray, PA, located approximately 15 miles south of Pittsburgh.  At 18, quoted in an article, “Youthful Martin faces riding elite” in the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, prior to competing at the Radnor event, “I just always wanted to be with horses from the time I was young,” Kurt
said, “I started at 5.  My mother took me to a tack shop to get boots and she signed me up for lessons.”  The lessons then led to Pony Club and a succession of increasingly demanding coaches.  Kurt’s participation in the North American Young Rider Championships for 4 years developed a real understanding of “team”.  He successfully completed the Young Rider One Star at age 16 and the Two Star at 18 on “Amusing One”.  In addition, participated in the “Developing Rider Program” with his mount.  “Amusing One”, is a

Having matured in skills and advanced in riding ability, although shown to have a “natural seat”, Kurt competes at all levels from Novice to the Advanced Level depending upon the need of the horse under saddle.  The Pony Club program
stresses teaching other pony clubbers, starting PC at age 5, Kurt had many years to perfect his techniques and become the knowledgeable, assertive, yet, adaptable and enjoyable instructor he is.
Presently, you can find Kurt located in the picturesque town of The Plains, VA in Fauquier County.
