Item Description
2011 Almaviva Maipo Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2011 Viña Almaviva Premier Orden Maipo Valley Bordeaux Blend (92 WS). Kim Marcus – Wine Spectator: “Big, rich and ripe, with well-structured flavors of dried berry, savory herb, smoke and spice. Firm tannins balance the lively minerality on the mid-palate. Cocoa powder notes show on the muscular finish." Chile’s first winery inspired in the Premier Grand Cru Classé thanks to a partnership of two wine dynasties: Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro. Almaviva is a Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend, which is grown and hand-crafted from an estate vineyard dedicated exclusively to this one wine from the Puente Alto region of the Maipo Valley. Named for Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, this wine interprets the Chilean climate and soil with traditional French winemaking. Across the vintages, Almaviva displays deep fruit character, balanced acidity and silky tannins that allow for decades of graceful aging.
