Item Description
1880s China Doll
Her name is Chloe, and she was the playmate of a little girl in Indiana in the 1880s. Her current dress was made about 70 years later by the grandmother that little girl eventually became. Chloe has traveled from Indiana to California to Maine, where she is looking for a new home.
Chloe's head, lower arms and hands, and feet are porcelain. Her body is stuffed cloth. She is 21" tall. All porcelain parts are in excellent condition, with no cracks or crazing.
She is wearing pantaloons, lace trimmed slip, dress, and mob cap. Pantaloons and petticoat are original, dress and cap are not (circa 1950). Petticoat and dress show age stains.
On display at the library.
