Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, and illustrator born in Charleston, SC. Fairey typically works in screen printing, collage, and stenciling, creating works that often incorporate iconography from popular culture. He is the founder and artist behind the momentous and widely recognizable Obey movement and brand. Fairey designed the iconic "Hope" poster for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. His work is included in the collections at The Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, among many others. His first art museum exhibition, Supply & Demand, was held at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston in summer 2009.
