Local Heroes Of Calistoga …the little town that CAN and DOES
--a buy a spot opportunity, $100 per person, for a special “Thank You, Heroes!” pizza party at a private home in Calistoga
--Sunday, August 7, 2016
The setting is spectacular -- at the upper reaches of the Napa Valley, the mountain ranges seem to hug you, and present you with an ever-changing panorama of shadow, light and colors. The people are the friendliest -- calling Calistoga ‘home’ is a source of pride for the 5000+ citizens living here. In fact, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Calistoga a "Distinctive Destination", recognizing Calistoga as one of an elite group of American communities dedicated to preserving its town's character and sense of place.
But probably most important, upvalley folks in Calistoga and St. Helena are loyal to their neighbors, develop friendships that last through generations, and are the first to rise to the occasion when someone needs help – and many, many people needed help when the Valley Fire tore a 76,000 acre swath through towns and forests, and three counties became states of emergency overnight…
Andy Wild showed up at the Calistoga Fairgrounds on the day it became an evacuation center for Valley Fire victims, wanting to help out in some way. So did Karen Cakebread. Little did they know that they would serve 1000s of meals for the evacuees, for days on end. With the support of our mayor, Chris Canning, and local representative Diane Dillon, they were the help and support that kept victims of the Valley Fire fed and safe.
This lot is a tribute to our Valley Fire Heroes—Andy, Karen, and our community leaders: Diane Dillon and Mayor Chris Canning who brought order and compassion to this emergency situation.
Come to a beautiful corner of light and color, on a warm summer evening. Join in a celebration of good food, good drinks and very, very good company. Wes and Tamara Talbot and Ann Carver and Denis Sutro open their homes and remarkable upvalley views for a fantastic wood-oven pizza party, featuring the bounty of summer and local charcuterie. You can be sure that no one will be hungry. Sip lovely summer wines and local beers and just have a glorious time, rubbing shoulders with our “heroes”.
