Flying at speeds up to 620 mph and capable of carrying 8,500 lbs of ordinance-while maintaining excellent maneuverability, the A-4 was a highly effective combat aircraft.

The storied past of “524” includes assignments at the Naval Weapons Fighter School (Top Gun) and with the weapons test squadron at the Naval Air Test Center, Pax River. “524” was returned to flight status by The Collings Foundation with the authentic markings employed by H&MS-11, the “Playboys” during their combat tours in 1969 and 1970 at Da Nang, Republic of Vietnam. “524” is currently operated by The Collings Foundation and stationed at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas.
