About M Frederic

With 35 years in business, M.Fredric continues to be at the forefront of the chic boutiques in Southern California. Since entering the retail apparel market in 1980, the company has evolved from carrying Moderate Junior apparel to Better Contemporary Apparel for the family thus giving customers a luxury department store feel in a boutique environment.

Frequented by celebrities, wardrobe stylists and sophisticated shoppers, M.Fredric is constantly evolving to offer staff an ever-changing dynamic environment and clients an exciting experience seven days a week. Top notch service, luxe lines and trendsetting approach to buying appeal to both city and suburban customers -- the trendy fashionista, edgy male and mom choosing to avoid the cookie cutter sameness of many children's apparel stores.

Unlike most apparel chains, M.Fredric is not solely directed at bottom line profitability. Giving back to the community is integrated in daily activities. M.Fredric supports the American Cancer Society and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times and is proudly known as a "retailer with a heart."

A Little Background:

The company was founded in 1979 by The Levine family. A dynamic brother and sister duo, Fred & Mardi, built the company from the ground up--later joined by Fred's wife, Lisa. The trio continues to run the show to this day.

M.Fredric opened its very first store in Brentwood on April 3, 1980. Within that same year, stores in Marina del Rey and Beverly Hills opened their doors in May and July, respectively. Two years later came the store on Sepulveda. Sepulveda possibly became the most well known location due to the fact that they began its annual 'Warehouse' sale at this store. More commonly known today as the 'Dorothy Sale' - since the warehouse is now on Dorothy Dr. in Agoura Hills.

A decade later M.Fredric had an announcement...It was EXPECTING! Yes, M.Fredric opened up its first 'Kids' store. At the time they knew they needed to expand the ever growing brand; and a kids division was born.

Over the years, M.Fredric evolved from its roots into the better contemporary apparel boutique that it is today; boasting a wide range of stylish, trendy apparel and accessories for women, men and children. Avoiding the stock look of most retail chains, M.Fredric strives for an eclectic, yet warm and welcoming ambiance.

The Vision:

Every store location that stands today tells it's own story. Visuals, design and decor give tale to its years of existence, surroundings, environment & the community in which it stands. M.Fredric will never stray from its homey and inviting roots; however evolution and innovation bares as much importance as heritage and comfort.

In 2014, Fred Levine sought out a team of designers to bring a fresh look and vision to the M.Fredric brand. Fast forward to April 2015 and its newest store location at Westlake Plaza brings conception to reality.

This location features a brand new concept & design. Customers will find a much larger, open floor plan: light color wood floors & white walls. A very clean and light overall look. The design team created the space to have a breath of fresh air, while maintaining the M.Fredric warm and inviting feel. You'll find a little bit of the old M.Fredric within the brand new space. It's wooden posts have become iconic and synonymous with M.Fredric over the years and while no longer having use as merchandise fixtures they have repurposed them into a cool design element and featured wall behind the counter. This wall also acts as partition to the dressing rooms and salon suite now located in the back of the store, giving customers extra privacy.
