The cuisine at Brown Sugar Kitchen reflects Tanya Holland’s interpretation of soul food. Her influences include her African-American heritage, her formal training at La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in France, and her general appreciation of a wide variety of cuisines. Brown Sugar Kitchen cooks with locally grown, organic and seasonal ingredients whenever possible.
Their thoughtful wine list is international and eclectic. They also feature wines from California African-American Vintners as well as wines from the South of France, where Tanya completed her first stagiere position. Look for a few of your favorite microbrews on tap.
The term “soul food” emerged at the same time as soul music; so naturally, music is a significant part of the experience at BSK. We hope our playlist will both surprise you and inspire you.
