Item Description

Do you or someone you love have a special occasion or sacrament this year which you will be celebrating? Father George would like to help you commemorate the event with a Papal Blessing.

The recipient of this acution item will receive a beautiful certificate of a papal blessing ("Benediction Papalis") for themself or their family, for another Catholic, or for a certain special occasion, like a wedding or anniverary. The matter of it is a lovely parchment, handpainted with calligraphy, design, the papal seal and signature; the blessing itself is invisible to the eye, of course, but the certificate is a beautiful keepsake and reminder of it.

Any baptized Catholic can receive a papal blessing.

Circumstances for which parchment papal blessings are granted:

The Apostolic Blessing is granted for the following occasions:

1. Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation
2. Marriage
3. Priestly Ordination
4. Religious Profession
5. Secular Consecration
6. Ordinations of Permanent Deacons
7. Marriage Anniversaries (10, 25, 40, 50 , 60 years)*
, Priestly Ordination, Religious Profession
8. Birthdays (18, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100)*
9. Catholic individuals or families
(with name and surname of the spouses united in a religious marriage).

The asterisk (*) indicates the need for the nihil obstat or approval of ecclesiastical authority.

Requests for papal blessings for other occasions will not be accepted.

Item Special Note

The winning bidder should be ready to provide Father George with the following information:

  • the name, surname and address of the person making the request;
  • the name and surname of the person(s) for whom the blessing is being requested;
  • the reason or occasion prompting the request;
  • the date, the name of the Church and the address are required when the blessing is requested for the celebration of a sacrament, a religious profession or an anniversary;
  • the address of where to send the parchment

Sometimes the blessings can be arranged in a short time. However there are often delays due to the number of requests or at holiday times when work slows down and/or the offices are closed. There are also spelling errors which are common with Italian calligraphers. You will need to allow a minimum of 2 months, if not longer
