“Chago” A nickname given to me by my longtime El Salvadorian friends and co-workers flourished into a life long dream on March 14th 2011. Growing up in San Diego, California had many benefits but the ones that stood out the most were the food and the laid back attitude in which I have carried into this restaurant. Eating true street tacos and surfing are definitely some of my favorite past times. While growing up I spent a lot of time in New Orleans, which is where I really fell in love with food. When given the opportunity to open a restaurant from scratch, I thought of no better food than what I grew up on and no better neighborhood than Belmont Hillsboro.
The rich tastes of New Orleans, the simplicity of a taco and this beautiful historic neighborhood were a perfect match for me. At Chago’s we are not an Authentic Mexican restaurant, we are a restaurant serving my favorite dishes the way I like to eat them. I am not a highly trained and decorated chef but love to eat and cook for my friends and family. We have traditional Mexican and Mexican American fair crossed with dishes from down south that will surprise anyone. All of our beef is locally sourced from grass fed and grass finished cows. I take time each week preparing locally raised whole animals such as pigs and goats for our specials that are forever changing. Every item on this menu is prepared daily by me and my devoted friends in the kitchen.
We are a true neighborhood bar serving Great Beers, Great Tequilas and of course Great Bourbons (my favorite). We have the best-priced happy hour in town with daily drink and food specials that will not leave you disappointed. As for what you see, all of the deÌÂÂ?cor is brought to you by local antique and consignment stores, which is a direct reflection of my home. Our music ranges from Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley to Daft Punk and Justin Timberlake, so don’t be surprised, it is never the same.
So after many dinner parties and a lot of trial and error here we are. Our goal is to give you Great Food, Great Service in an atmosphere that makes you feel at home.
