Lot 12: A Tadpole Adventure
- Item Number
- 325
Item Description
Springtime rains in Henry Coe State Park, filling the streams with water and provides the perfect environment for a new generation of frogs to grow. Put on your science hat (and perhaps your rain coat!) and venture out to the trails for a day of wildlife exploration in the lovely streams of our local state park! This is a guided adventure hike led by ISTP parent and nature enthusiast, Gary Meeker, where children can explore the exciting life cycle of a frog from tadpole to adult, directly within their natural habitats. This fun and educational experience can be tailored for kids as young as PreK (with their parents) through elementary.
Gary will lead the group along the banks of a stream for about a mile, stopping frequently to allow the kids to find and observe tadpoles and frogs in various stages of their growth. Children will be given all the materials they need to be a nature scientist, including cups, bucket, and magnifying glass, so they can observe the tadpoles up close. At our lunch stop, the group will enjoy a gourmet trail lunch and kids can wade in the water while they search for more animals that inhabit the park.
Given the cycles of nature, late May is the ideal time for this adventure. Open to 10 children with one accompanying adult each (depending on the child’s age), you don’t want to miss this fun opportunity to learn about nature’s lifecycles and enjoy a day on the trail!
