PuraNatura Story - A true story – A Mission

Allow me to briefly explain why natural cosmetics from PuraNatura came into being – and what is special about them. PuraNatura’s story is also my own story and it has both a simple as well as a personal background. I had the desire not only to stir up a cream but also to make one that treated the skin well and supported its physiology. The basis of my concept is to make “Natural Cosmetics” with a diversity of plant-based organic oils and butters.

Active natural ingredients are the backbone in this "natural cosmetic", which I make and perform all of the preparations of plant-based materials myself, be it by maceration, in form of a powder or watery alcoholic extract, as hydrolates, or as an ethereal oil. After that, I draw from a small palette of additional active ingredients which I have found to be useful.

From an early age, I suffered from sunburns. Back then, these skin burns were not taken seriously. The usual products and medicinal creams could not help me.  I continued to be in the sun and no one then realized the severe outcome. After I got diagnosed with skin cancer at the very early age of 50, I turned my life upside down and began to have a good look at alternative skin-care possibilities but couldn’t find any. Like many others, I also wanted to have a healthy life in a healthy way. And of course I was (and still am today!) motivated by a wariness of chemicals, pesticides and large industry. During this time I began to cultivate my own plants – especially the healing Calendula flower plant, and developed formulations for natural cosmetics that might help my skin to recover.

By the summer of 2000 I had made it: my first skin lotion withstood the personal "stress-test" - the protection of my over-sensitive skin. I will never forget its formula of sesame seed oil, sweet almond oil, calendula flower extract, shea butter and beewax. My skin felt like new.

Many products on the shelves promise beautiful and healthy skin and hair.  If you look closely, though,  you will be shocked by the ingredients (mineral oil, paraben, PEG-Derivate including unnecessary auxiliary materials); dangerous substances are in there, treating your skin like a chemistry experiment.

My aim is to inspire people to be critical. To recognize quality, so that not everything is bought without a thought, just because it looks nice or its wrapped beautifully. An old proverb says: “The skin never forgets anything”. Handle it with care and awareness. We have only one skin!
