Item Description
This limited edition 22" doll is from 2009 and is one of just 350 ever created. She is named Ma Shawu and she wears a black wool outfit adorned with specialized patterns of intricate needlework created by her Taiwanese ancestors. Believed to ward off bad luck, copper bells sway along the edge of her capelet. Eighteen colorful pom-poms encircle her headdress representing the 18 different tribes of the Gaoshan. The white feathers are symbolic to attracting a prospective sweetheart. Three bright metal discs and tiny metal studs are worked into the decorative flap that hangs at her waist.
Ma Shawu comes with a sturdy, heirloom-quality 4-poster, white wooden bed from Melissa and Doug which is decorated with heart cutouts, turned bedposts, an embroidered blanket and a lace-trimmed pillow. And, the doll comes with a matching high chair.
