Item Description
This unique bowl is made of sterling silver and the polished shell of the Empress Abalone which comes from the cold waters of New Zealand.
The shell has been polished to show its luminous rainbow colors and has been lined with polished silver.
Made in Bali, nearly 20 years ago, by an Italian Silversmith, it took extraordinary skill to combine the abalone shell with silver. The silver had to be heated to be pliable so that it could be attached, formed, smoothed. The challenge was that if the shell became too hot, it would shatter.
Dimensions 5 inches long x 3.75 wide x 1.5 maximum depth.
12.6 cm x 9.5 cm x 4 cm maximum depth.
