Item Description

Green Newton was a proud recipient of a 2015 New England Merit Award from the Environmental Protection Agency New England. This non-profit group with over 400 members is a recognized leader in local environmental education and advocacy for the management of Newton’s energy, land and water resources, recycling and more. Green Newton recently donated a solar bus shelter to the city to support the use of public transit (to be installed at Walnut & Homer Streets) and it is collaborating with the city on the Newton Energy $avers initiative with a goal to sign up 1,000 homes for Mass Save energy assessments by September 30, 2016.

Green Newton supports the Newton community by:

    • improving energy efficiency and conservation
    • advocating for the environment with City and State leadership
    • protecting our water systems
    • increasing recycling and providing safe alternatives to toxic chemicals
    • offering a free environmental speaker series and other programs
    • improving pedestrian and bike safety
    • providing environmental school and out-of-school programs for all ages

By becoming a member of Green Newton, you can help protect the environment in Newton and beyond, support environmental education and advocacy, and participate in Green Newton activities.

Also, Williams PTO receives a $10 donation from Green Newton for each person who signs up for a No-Cost Mass Save Home Energy Assessment on the following link: http://www.nextstepliving.com/williamspto.
