Item Description
Is your 7th or 8th grader listless, apathetic, slothful, diffident? Or even a bit lazy on occasion? It’s not your fault! Blame Fairfax County! Arlington is almost as bad: The suburban lifestyle is sapping the native vim of our children! They need Mr. Kelley’s Urban Experience™. We’ll take Metro from Virginia to Metro Center, enjoying its two levels of sleek tracks and trains. We’ll peer into stunning City Center with its spanking new chi-chi shops as we trek along bustling H St. bound for Chinatown—where we may choose to savor a luncheon of Asian cuisine at its near finest. We’ll prowl about the Spy Museum, aghast at the treachery of some and the heroism of others. Will Union Station greet us with its cheery bustle of tourists and harried bunch of lobbyists? Of course! And we’ll be among the first to judge whether the return of the streetcar is worth $200 million. This is not your typical tourist tour of Washington, but a look at DC through the eyes of a Master of City Planning. What is Mr. Kelley’s Urban Experience™ worth? In monetary terms: fares, lunch, Spy Museum—not cheap—snack. In terms of awakening our addled young country-folk to the bracing reality of an urbanizing world, Mr. Kelley’s Urban Experience™ is priceless.

NOTE: This unique experience is open to 7th and 8th Graders
Cost per Student:$100
Date: A work-day (the Experience is Urban) chosen by mutual agreement.
Dress: There’ll be a lot of walking.
Pick-up and drop-off points: A Metro station chosen by mutual agreement.
Duration: Five hours.
Starting time: Flexible.
You will have the option to BUY IT NOW and invite up to 2 friends for $400.00. Look for the BUY IT NOW on the bid sheet the night of the Gala.
