Item Description
The THOREAU JOURNAL QUARTERLY was published by the Thoreau Fellowship of Old Town, Maine, from 1969 to 1981. 49 issues were released in all. These last remaining extra issues were recently uncovered from long-term storage, and full sets of the journal are available. Unfortunately, four or five of the issues are in such low supply that four of these issues will be COPIES, not ORIGINALS. In other words, you will receive all 49 issues, and 45 of those will be the original publications. You will receive the special "albino" issue, dated October 15, 1972. The QUARTERLY was an eclectic mix of literary criticism about Henry David Thoreau and poetic tributes to him. Maine is also a primary focus of the articles. Look through these issues, and the 1960s and 1970s will pop out at you. Ah, those were the days! Only about 125 North American academic libraries have runs of this periodical in their collections. INCLUDED WITH YOUR PURCHASE: a set of the Thoreau Fellowship newsletter, a single-sheet edition that appeared at regular intervals during the same time span. It appears as though 31 of these newsletters were issued; you will receive as many originals as possible (20+, at least). Devout Thoreauvians will jump at the chance to own both of these hard-to-find publications.
