Item Description

Hand embroidered (smocked) seersucker  dress in easy care cotton.

Winning bidder can choose from size  2  through size 6

This dress is produced in sheltered workshop in Thailand, run by Catholic nuns and which  supports  a work program for economically disadvantaged women in Bangkok.

The type of sewing on the dress has often been referred to as " grand ma sewintg": seams are bound, the embroidered smocking panel is faced to keep little fingers and barrets from catching in threads as the dress is put on. The hems are hand hemmed using " blind stitch". The hems are about 2 to 3 inches deep, so may be let down.  The slight a-line construction of the dress, complete  with a sash tie in the back,   allows for the growth spurt of children who frequently go grow a bit bigger around the middle before growing taller. Most children can get 2 years out of this dress.

Machine wash, and dry in medium low dryer. The seer sucker requires little  and generally no ironing, except sometimes a touch up on the sash.
