Item Special Note
Emily Keener turned around all four chairs and scored a standing ovation from the entire panel during “The Voice” season 10 Blind Auditions on Tuesday. Watch below!
The 16-year-old amazed the coaches with her take on “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Blake Shelton was the first to hit his button, but his colleagues didn’t wait too long to follow. When Keener finished her performance, the stars all stood in applause. It marked the first four-chair turn-around of the night.
Shelton told Keener, “Your voice, it’s like nothing I’ve ever heard before. It’s just a completely new sound. Unbelievable.” Adam Levine called it “pure,” and praised the teen’s song choice before noting, “You’ll be great on any team, but I think you’ll be the best on mine.”
Pharrell called the performance “breathtaking,” and told Keener, “What I loved was that you just used the entire tapestry of your vocal chords… It’s just super-fresh, effervescent approach to singing.” Christina Aguilera then spoke up to break the obvious connection between artist and pro.
“I see your eyes light up when Pharrell talks to you and I’m a little bit sad, but you’re so special and I would love to dive in with you,” said the pop superstar. “There’s something so beautifully controlled and true and honest… I think you’re a voice that could speak to a new generation.”
But Aguilera’s hunch turned out to be correct, and Keener picked Pharrell to be her coach. Check out the video below!
