Item Description
These young Napa cabernets are waiting for a big break, and this is your chance to snag some fresh-faced potential before they go blockbuster. Starting off with twin bottles of 2013 Educated Guess by Roots Run Deep Winery – Robert Parker gave this a 90 score and said this is “just a gorgeously sexy, lush wine that delivers the goods… drink it over the next 5-6 years."
This lot includes a 2011 Rutherford Sequoia Grove, described by the winery as boasting an immediate aroma of raspberries and warm baking spices, leading into cassis and clove, and a palate has elements of pie crust, with smooth, silky tannins and well balanced acidity. The 2013 Beaucanon Estate from Longwood Ranch yields elegant, blackberry, cassis, cedar, and full-bodied flavor, and the 2012 Sean Minor is described by City Wine Merchant as one that “consistently over delivers as a result of Sean Minor's passion, premium vineyards, and partnership with a winemaker trained at Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. It delivers ripe cherry, cassis, blackberry, spice coffee aromas and flavors.” The Wine Enthusiast describes the 2012 Silver Stag as complex – “damp earth, tar and gamy bacon combine aromatically and flavor-wise in this Cabernet, which also contains smaller traces of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Black currant and cassis mingle with an herbal back beat that begins to power up midway through and on the finish.”
This half case of pretty young things includes a bonus bottle from 1998. Wine Spectator described this Clos Pegase as “complex, with well-integrated currant, anise, cherry and plum fruit. Avoids being overly earthy and tannic, though it finishes on the dry side.” Fingers crossed it mellowed over time like Natasha Lyonne and didn’t go the way of a vinegary Tara Reid.
