Item Description
Now let me welcome everybody to the wild wild west, it’s a state that’s untouchable like Eliot Ness… and maybe Tupac and Dr. Dre weren’t referencing our homegrown wines, but this collection of seven cabernets is pure California Love.
From Alexander Valley, we have a 2013 Bench, and Wine Poste finds it “exudes a dark, deep purple color in the glass. The nose is vibrant with violets, huckleberry and a touch of vanilla spice. The palate is elegantly wound with dusty tannins and a supple, velvet texture. The long, seamless finish ebbs and flows with flavors of black currant, dark cocoa and forest floor.” Fellow Sonoma wines include a 2007 Gundlach Bundschu Estate with optimal cellaring time of 4 to 15 years, and a 2012 Kendall Jackson Wine Enthusiast describes as “tight and tannic, this majority Cab wine is distinguished by a thickness of black fruit and herbaceous back palate that gives it density, separated by bursts of vanilla and oak. Give it time to open and notes of mocha chocolate should also come through.” The Wine Advocate depicts the 2012 Louis M. Martini’s “silky texture… a dense wine that exhibits lots of black currant and black cherry fruit intertwined with background earth and oak. This medium to full-bodied Cabernet reveals excellent purity as well as lots of flavor intensity."
Hailing from Paso Robles, this intense, velvety 2013 was awarded a Gold Medal and 91 Points from the 2016 Toast the Coast Wine Competition and a Gold Medal from the 2016 SF Chronicle Wine Competition. Rounding out this lot of solid California cabernets is the 2010 Beringer Founder’s Estate, which won Gold at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition in 2013.
