Item Description

California is a noted cradle of aviation innovation – from the first parachute trial, to Lincoln Beachey’s acrobatics, and the long list of Howard Hughes’ endeavors. Celebrate this spirit by enjoying a flight of four pinot noirs from 2012, 2013, and 2014.

First in this lot is a 2012 California Chateau St. Jean that earned silver at the Critics Challenge Wine Competition. It described by Wine Buyer as “youthful and inviting, this pinot noir displays lovely aromas of raspberry, cherry and plum as well as hints of rose and leather. The palate offers jammy fruit flavors and round tannins that give a creamy texture and a long fruit-driven finish.”

Representing 2012 are a Beringer Stanley Ranch from Carneros that has pleasing notes of cola, sassafras, cocoa and vanilla, yet the sweet oak is deftly balanced and the wine has enough acidity to keep it bright and compelling, and an Irony Small Lot Reserve from the Russian River Valley that opens with enticing aromas of raspberry, caramel and a hint of toasty oak. This medium-bodied wine delivers complex flavors of cherry, strawberry and mocha.

Your final stop is a 2104 Evesham Wood from Willamette Valley that K&L describes as “elegant and Burgundian in style, organically and dry-farmed, Evesham Wood's wines are simply gorgeous examples of Oregon Pinot.”

Enjoy the flight!
