Item Description

All right, California is pretty awesome – but it’s important to remember what the rest of the planet has to offer. This mixed case of wines include fine showings from countries the world over.

Let’s start with Spain – this 2008 Dido is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and grenache. With a Wine & Spirits score of 91, this wine has “light aromas of leather that give extra complexity to its fresh red fruit aromas. It's juicy and intense, with a firm tannic structure that's as smooth as marble, and soft floral notes lasting at the end."

Mais oui, our next stop is France. The 2010 Bader-Mimeur Bourgogne Pinot Noir is described by Bi-Rite as “spry, full of bright red fruit, and dexterous. Enjoy this with poultry dishes like roast chickens or duck breast.” Find a fellow French red in a 2011 Cateau Griviere Medoc Cru Borgeois. This Bordeaux wine scored 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and a reputation as “complex and solid, it holds rich berry fruits, a darkly tannic structure, dense texture and a juicy acidity. This firm wine has a good future, so don’t drink before 2017.” And finally, a bottle of true Champagne, this Mumm Cordon Rouge NV  has flavors of vanilla, roasted nuts and a hint of toast, the result of the carefully chosen infusion of terroir and reserve wines.”

From there, we visit Italy. The 2007 Lanari Rosso Conero  is described by K&L as bursting with the “famous Montepulciano and Sangiovese at the heart of this full-bodied and wonderfully tannic red from Italy's Marche region. Think of Rosso Conero as an insider's Chianti Classico." Next is the 2009 Molino di Sant'Antimo from Tuscany, a Brunello di Montalcino red that James Suckling describes as "a wine with lots of spices, leather and meat, as well as ripe fruit. Full body with silky tannins and a medium finish. Drink now." Moving on to the bianco variety, the Arianna Occhipinti Grillo Sicilia Tami is a 2014 Sicilian white blend described by Cool Vines as “an impressive effort with gorgeous aromatics that literally leap from the glass. On the palate there is ample fruit but it is eloquently juxtaposed by the bright tropical citrus core and brilliant minerality. Ideal with appetizers, fish dishes, risotto, and cheese.” Follow that with a fine 2014 Falanghina, this Poderi Foglia I Vignali is mineral notes as well as apricot forward younger fruit and an uncomplicated constitution. Cin, cin!

North to Deutschland, for a bottle of 2014 Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof Reisling from Mosel. With a Wine & Spirit score of 90, "spicy acidity gives this rich, fruity QbA an elegant line, wending through the peach, mango and pineapple flavor with persistence and drive. The focus is impressive, and the wine ends clean, ready for a holiday meal with turkey and all the trimmings."

Finally, it is time to get antipodian, with a visit to South Africa for a 2012 Café Cabernet from Wellington. This wine is an IWSC Bronze medal winner that is ready to enjoy now. Our last stop garners us a sweet treat from the Aussies. Enjoy two bottles of NV R.L. Buller & Son "Premium Fine" Muscat that consistently earns 90+ ratings from all the critics! Wine Enthusiast says, "It's perfumed yet full bodied and rich, with sweet notes of golden raisins and dried figs, as well as darker hints of dates and molasses."
